TEC-012717:  PSC/PSD Rail Drawings (01/27/2017) The PSC and PSD quick-start manuals, active between March 2016 and December 2016, have been featuring the incorrect rail in the drawings. The internal flow schematics and piping diagrams were based on the Classic Series rail instead of on the Prime Series rail. As a result, the Initial Charging Port was shown in the incorrect place. Drawings have been corrected in the latest manuals, published at the end of December 2016. The corrected drawings are attached to the complete bulletin (clink on link above).

TEC-012317:  GEA Grout Curing Time (01/23/2017) EarthLinked Technologies recently discovered that grouts by Geo Energy Alternatives (GA-Xtra and GA-Xtra PLUS grouts) have a curing time of approximately 28 days before they achieve the target thermal conductivity.

TEC-091216:  AVV Air Handlers Air Flow Setting (09/12/2016)
EarthLinked Air Handlers model AVV (variable speed ECM motor) provided through United Refrigeration have a factory default setting of 350 CFM per nominal ton for second stage compressor operation. EarthLinked systems should operate at an airflow level of 400 CFM per nominal ton of system capacity. Failure to ensure this air flow level can affect the performance, efficiency and reliability of the EarthLinked geothermal system. To achieve the required airflow level of 400 CFM per nominal ton of system capacity, follow the attached instructions.

SVC-052616: Locked Out Unit Failing to Reset (05/26/2016)
Classic Series units built between beginning 2014 and end of 2015 (Serial Numbers ETI-1401-000001 to ETI-1601-000001) that lock out on safety may, under certain conditions, get stuck in lock-out state and fail to reset. Below is a description of the procedure to follow in order to correct the lock-out/lock-in relays wiring and address this issue. Also attached to this bulletin are the current Electric Diagrams of the SC, SCW(A) and SCW(D) units.

TEC-021616: HRM and Domestic Water Heating Sizing Requirement (02/16/2016)
We have removed the requirement to add 1,000 BTUH to the Heating Load for each occupant when sizing for a system with domestic water heating by Heat Recovery Module (HRM). As a result of this modification, the SD series Heating Option Kit (SDHO-1872) becomes obsolete.

SVC-010816 :  Brand of Polyol Ester Oil (01/08/2016)
EarthLinked compressors are shipped with Copeland Ultra 32-3MAF Polyol Ester Oil. This is the only brand and type of oil that we recommend be used with our compressor units. EarthLinked systems are optimized for usage with the Copeland Ultra 32-3MAF Polyol Ester Oil, which has shown to have the best oil return performances.

TEC-121615: Electric Strip Heat Wiring in Air Handlers (12/16/2015)
It has recently come to our attention that a Nordyne product change could affect the function of auxiliary heat on air handlers purchased between August 3, 2015 through December 1, 2015. If you need further assistance on this issue, please call ETI Technical Service at 1-863-701-0096.

TEC-062415: Model TM5005 Timers (06/24/2015)
The Model TM5005 solid state timer is not recommended for use in an EarthLinked air or hydronic space heating and/or cooling system. Please read the Tech Bulletin (click link above) for complete description and remedial action.

TEC-040615: External TXV Kits (04/06/2015)
As of April 6, 2015, EarthLinked Technologies will be shipping external Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV) Kits along with Air Handlers and Cased Coils. We are moving in this direction to increase serviceability in the field and better serve the market. For instructions on installing the external TXV Kit, please see the CCS Series Cased Coils Installation Manual or AVS Series Air Handlers Installation Manual linked in the bulletin.

TEC-100114: Earth Loop Line Set Building Entry (10/01/2014)
When Earth Loop line sets are brought inside the building, either through a basement wall, slab floor, or crawl space, the vapor and liquid lines must be separated, insulated, and brought inside through separate PVC pipes as shown in the illustration on page 3. It is critical during this installation process to seal around the outside of the PVC pipes; then foam and seal around the insulated refrigerant lines inside of the PVC pipes.

SVC-121312: York Variable Speed Air Handlers (12/13/2012)
In some EarthLinked® Geothermal Renewable Energy System installations utilizing the York variable speed air handler, when the system is operated in heat mode and the thermostat set point is raised enough to call for two stages of heat, in some cases there is no time delay between activation of the compressor (Y2) and auxiliary heat (W2), with the result that the blower does not come on.

When a system is opened during installation or service, water vapor may enter the system. Water reacts with the refrigerant and creates acids which will shorten the life of the compressor. Removing this water from the system through evacuation is imperative.

ETI has been advised by Copeland Application Engineering that Copeland Scroll Compressors do not require a start capacitor or start relay to ensure reliable operation. For this reason, ETI will be shipping all single phase compressor units beginning November 01, 2011 without start capacitors and start relays. In addition, for the purpose of enhancing compressor unit reliability, ETI will provide AmRad run capacitors on all single phase compressor units, beginning with shipments on November 01, 2011.

The following EarthLinked Technologies, Inc. Earth Loop Application Policy addresses the restrictions to the application of a copper earth loop system as a component of an EarthLinked Heating and Cooling System or Commercial Water Heating System.

TEC-061711:  Compressor Burn Out and Water Contamination Repair Procedure (06/17/2011)
This bulletin addresses the proper repair for EarthLinked systems that have failed due to (1) compressor burn out and (2) water contamination of the system due to refrigerant to water heat exchanger rupture. The most common cause of heat exchanger rupture is due to inadequate freeze protection.

When EarthLinked compressor units and hydronic water modules are applied to radiant panel hydronic heating and/or chilled water cooling systems, the system must be protected from potential damage from freeze-up by utilizing anti-freeze solution in the water circulation system. SCW, HCW and HWW Series compressor units and HWM hydronic water modules are to be protected by utilizing anti-freeze solution in the water circulating system.

When an operating EarthLinked system is “topped-off” with refrigerant because of a suspected leak, the root cause of the system problem has not been addressed and proper corrective action has not been initiated. The likely result will be additional dealer call-backs and eventual system failure. Problem diagnosis and appropriate service action must be initiated when refrigerant leakage is first suspected, to correct the problem, thus ensuring customer satisfaction and minimizing costs to the dealer and ETI.

ETI incorporates brazed plate heat exchangers in certain compressor units and water heating modules. That equipment is integrated with field-designed domestic water or hydronic water systems. ETI equipment is designed to operate using a water supply that may have been treated with chlorine in normal amounts for purification purposes, as determined by a municipal water treatment facility. However, domestic or commercial water systems may be serviced to eliminate bacterial contamination by subjecting them to a “super-chlorination” or “shock chlorination” process. That system-flushing process requires circulating a water solution having a chlorine content of 200 ppm or more. A water solution with that chlorine content is a major hazard to the brazed plate heat exchanger and circulating water pump, and should never enter or be circulated through the heat exchanger while decontaminating the hydronic or domestic water supply system.
