EarthLinked | Southeastern Midwest | Dennis Beckett

With four unique seasons, none of which are uncomfortably extreme, Kentucky and Tennessee have what some might consider perfect weather. Varying temperatures, though mild, mean near-constant fluctuating thermostat settings. It’s then that Kentucky and Tennessee residents can face overexerted heating and cooling systems and the high energy costs that come with them. EarthLinked Geothermal Renewable Energy Systems will make sure their ideal temperature is met as is their home heating and cooling budget.

The perks of being an EarthLinked Technologies dealer are equally as exciting. The lifespan of our technology far surpasses traditional HVAC systems due to the fact that they are fully enclosed with fewer components. Add to that decreased maintenance costs, a more comfortable home and increased property value, and the benefits of EarthLinked Geothermal Renewable Energy Systems are undeniable.

What is Geothermal?

By utilizing the natural energy underground, EarthLinked Geothermal Renewable Energy Systems are able to deliver geothermal cooling in the summer months and heating in the winter. The process involves converting Earth’s natural energy into cool air or heat and then pumping it inside your home. Healthy and Sustainable Design Seminar

IMG_0506On Friday, Nov. 11, I attended the Healthy Sustainable Design event at the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, Georgia. The day-long continuing education seminar was sponsored by The Campaign for Wool (the recipient of the patronage of Prince Charles-HRH, The Prince of Wales), a worldwide effort to educate the public about healthy and sustainable design using wool products. The seminar was attended by architects, interior designers, building contractors and students interested in green design.

Presentations were made by Stephen J. Fookes and Leah Phillips with Paragon Wool Products. They spoke about the many attributes of wool and how this versatile product can be used in today’s sustainability, health and energy efficiency markets. Who knew that new wool insulation not only has the same thermal effectiveness as R-21 foam insulation in a 3-½” wall, but is an all natural product that absorbs moisture and neutralizes CO2 emissions.

Bourke Reeve with Southface Energy Institute in Atlanta gave a presentation about sustainable design in historic homes. He presented several case studies to demonstrate the most effective changes that can be made to historic homes to conserve energy while preserving historical charm and accuracy.

Small Footprint Geothermal a Success

Precision Air of Nashville, TN installed an EarthLinked horizontal earth loop for a pool house located in Belle Meade. The installation area was a very tight space between the pool house and a privacy fence. Restrictive new drilling requirements instituted by the governing body of Belle Meade added to the challenge of the site. Because of its small footprint, the EarthLinked Geothermal Renewable Energy System was a natural choice.

The loop consisted of two ditches 125 feet long, 4 inches wide, and 5 feet deep.  It was dug by a chain trencher with very minimal impact on the yard. The installation was performed by Tony LaFrenier, Cody LaFrenier and Scott Witt of Precision Air.

EarthLinked’s Small Footprint

EarthLinked Systems are compact and require a smaller amount of yard space to install than any other system. They can be installed in any home, regardless of property size. Nine different earth loop system configurations are available, which allows flexibility to install geothermal in both larger and smaller properties. Diagonal earth loop configurations can be installed in areas as small as three feet in diameter. Plus, because the technology is placed underground, there is less equipment inside the home or visible on the outside property.

A Family Business

Over 20 year ago Tony LaFrenier and his wife Kellie started with one truck, a tool-belt and a strong work ethic. Today they have 24 full-time employees. One simple philosophy for doing business has led to their success: treat each customer the way they would expect to be treated. Tony and Kellie consider their business “family owned” as they strive to treat their employees as members of the Precision Air family.

Consumer Education a Priority

Georgia Power Customer Resource Center

Consumer education displays for energy efficient products are featured at the Resource Center.

The Consult a Home Pro networking group held a Business-to-Business event at the Georgia Power Customer Resource Center in Atlanta on August 18. Despite the terrible storms that passed through the area that evening, there was good group on hand to view consumer education displays from industries such as roofing, mold remediation, LED lighting, and EarthLinked Geothermal Renewable Energy Systems.

Energy Efficiency Featured

The Resource Center was built to help educate people who are going to build or remodel learn about current technologies. The center showcases everything from electric transportation, electric comfort systems, the latest in cooking technologies, manufacturing applications for industry, to energy efficiency ideas for your home.

I was disappointed to see there was little information available about renewable energy technology, but I hope to change that very soon. Homeowners should know that EarthLinked systems can save them money on their energy bill, as well as help the environment. There is an added sense of urgency, too, since the federal tax credit for geothermal installations expires at the end of the year.

Progressive Drilling at Southeast Geothermal

southeast-logoOn Friday Brant Wurster and I had the pleasure of meeting with Lon Dillard, owner of Southeast Geothermal, Inc. in Blairsville, Georgia.  He works in Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina. Lon is a very progressive person who has developed many processes to make his drilling operation more competitive and efficient.

Progressive & Competitive

Lon is looking into a core drilling rig that would make him more competitive in installing the EarthLinked Geothermal Renewable Energy System.  The core drill makes it possible for him to enter a new market and offer new products that were previously unavailable with his current rigs. As an added benefit, the core drill lowers the cost on several fronts such as decreased fuel, immobilization fees, set-up time, and space requirements.

Lon understands the added benefit that EarthLinked has to offer with its simpler, effective and efficient design. We really look forward to the possibility of Lon and his company joining the EarthLinked team of authorized dealers.
