Michigan is unique with its considerably colder temperatures than the rest of the United States. For homeowners in Michigan, this means frigid winters and cool summers that rarely reach above 80 degrees. Staying warm in the freezing cold while keeping an eye on the heating and cooling costs can be an endless struggle with traditional HVAC systems.
Heating Michigan homes does not have to be a double-edged sword. The superior operation of EarthLinked Geothermal Renewable Energy Systems provides a more comfortable home, without pesky hot or cold spots, while saving homeowners money. EarthLinked Geothermal Renewable Energy Systems are fully enclosed with fewer components and a superior heat transfer. This boosts the lifespan of the technology, decreases the maintenance costs associated with owning one and treats you to consistent heat.
What is Geothermal?
As an EarthLinked Technologies dealer in Michigan, you can deliver a powerful, stable flow of heat to a place where a simple, energy efficient and cost effective temperature solution is much needed. Learn more about what geothermal is and why you should make the switch in an interview with EarthLinked’s Chief Operating Officer.
How Does it Work?
EarthLinked Geothermal Renewable Energy Systems work by transferring thermal energy from underground, bringing warmth and comfort directly into homes. Click here to discover more about how geothermal heating and cooling works.

Not only will a single EarthLinked Geothermal Heat Pump be supplying conditioned air through a Unico small duct system, but it will also supply all the necessary hot water to keep the floors toasty warm in the dead of winter. Talk about the ultimate heating and cooling system.
Oh, did I mention that the bath towels will be nice and cozy from the warmth of the hydronic towel bars? Yep. Earthlinked—we heat air, floors, water and now, towels!
So that means every facet of the home’s comfort is being supplied by a single, ultra efficient geothermal system. Now that’s what I call Simple, Efficient and Effective.

The EarthLinked sales team gathered last week for training at the Unico System plant in St. Louis, Missouri. The Unico System, a small-duct system for heating and cooling, is a unique product line that will enable us to address new opportunities.
Since EarthLinked already has the only Energy Star qualified small-duct air handling system on the market, not only is our yard space requirement minimal but now our duct space is too.
Thanks to the Intagliata family and the Unico team for the hospitality and knowledge they shared with us. It was a good day!
A single EarthLinked Geothermal Heat Pump System will provide hot water for infloor radiant heat and direct-exchange heated/cooled forced air for the utmost in comfort throughout the home.
Stay tuned as I have more surprises coming from this project in the future!
“25 years is a pretty good life.” That’s what Lester the homeowner said as he watched technicians pull out his old U.S. Power GSDX refrigerant based geothermal unit and replace it with a new EarthLinked Model PSD-50-1C, two-speed geothermal system.
“I was really happy to learn I could attach a new EarthLinked system to my existing copper ground loop.”
There are a lot of old refrigerant based geothermal systems installed in Michigan. Now is a great time to replace that old system and take advantage of federal tax credits and utility rebates while they are still available. Remember, the 30% federal energy tax credit is set to expire December 31, 2016.
EarthLinked Technologies was recently contacted by a homeowner to determine the feasibility of installing a geothermal heating and cooling system into her major rehab project. While providing design and feasibility consults are not out of the norm, the project was anything but standard.
Built in the late 1800’s and vacant for nearly 20 years, the home is located within blocks of the famous Fisher Building in downtown Detroit. The owner of the home, with aspirations to eventually live “off grid,” has dedicated herself to rehabilitating the property into an ultra energy efficient building.
Larry Kauffman, Director of the Michigan Geothermal Energy Association, explained to the homeowner:
“The only way you’ll be able to be off the grid, heating and cooling wise, is to go geothermal.”
However, with the extremely small parcel of land that is typical of inner city lots, going geothermal was going to be challenge. Enter EarthLinked. With the ability to place a ground loop in an area as small as three feet in diameter, Earthlinked was the obvious choice. The homeowner agreed.
Stay tuned for more to come on this exciting downtown Detroit rehabilitation project.
